Scott Wilson provides Bridge Engineering
Services for external clients and also for major transportation
projects delivered by the wider Scott Wilson group. A
‘one-stop-shop’ design service is provided for road, rail and river
crossings within the UK and internationally. Expertise also
includes UKAS accredited structural Investigation and
Rehabilitation services.
Scott Wilson’s Bridge Engineering team
provides study and design services for UK and international
transportation projects. All stages of the project cycle are
covered, from conceptual design and feasibility to design of
renewal or upgrade of bridge structures.
Highways projects are often procured through
Design & Build or more recently in the UK through Early
Contractor Involvement (ECI) methods and the bridge design team
develops designs from conceptual engineering during Phase 1 through
to detailed design and preparation of construction drawings during
Phase 2. Close collaboration with the contractor and other
parties is a key element of the success experienced on many
projects.
Bridge design for railway projects has complexities associated with
control of dynamic effects, appraisal of track/structure
interaction loading, provision of services and stray current
corrosion etc. Scott Wilson’s Bridges team understand the
complex interfacing problems associated with the multidisciplinary
requirement for major railways projects.
Bridge design and maintenance services are also provided for
smaller scale projects to Local Authorities and private
clients. All of the design teams are equipped with the latest
interactive computer analysis and design software to ensure the
highest levels of efficiency and accuracy.
